Is Agents of Influence a game with a political agenda?

Agents of Influence is a non-partisan game designed to teach all people to read carefully, think about the impact of their decisions online, and be more respectful and engaged citizens. The game has not been designed with any political agenda in mind.

Who’s behind the game?

The game has been ideated, researched and designed by Alterea Inc., a small creative studio based in Los Angeles, along with production partners Holy Cow Productions.

What does the name “Agents of Influence” mean?

“Agents of Influence” is a Cold War-era term referring to spies who were sent behind enemy lines to spread disinformation. This game reclaims the term by teaching people they have agency (the ability to make smart, informed decisions for themselves) and influence (their decisions impact others).

Is there a free-to-play version of the game?

Guest account users can play the first two episodes of Story Mode for free.

Is there more planned game content?

There are 6 more episodes planned for Story Mode.

What is the target audience for this game?

Agents of Influence is a fun and valuable game for anyone to play, but has been designed particularly for middle- and high-school classroom use (Grades 6-10).

Where is this game meant to be played?

Agents of Influence is designed for middle- and high-school classrooms (Grads 6-10); it teaches skills and knowledge relevant to almost any class, including history, civics, computer science, english/writing, and science. It can also be played at after-school programs, libraries, and at home.

Can multiple people use one account?

Each account can only be logged in on one computer at a time.

What devices can this game be played on?

Tablets, laptops (including Chromebooks), desktops. (Not currently optimized for phones).

What browsers does this game work on?

Recommended browsers are Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Opera. Compatibility issues with Safari.

What is the difference between misinformation and disinformation?

“Misinformation” is false or inaccurate information, while “disinformation” is false or inaccurate information spread deliberately to mislead or deceive.

How do I sign up my students?

From your teacher account you can add student accounts, either individually or by importing a CSV file.

What are the different account options?

Guest account (non-paying), Guest account (paying), Teacher account, and Student account.
